Big AK NEWS 2-11-09

1st Slopestyle @ Hilltop was a success.  Thanks to Hilltop Terrain Park mastermind Paul Kelly!  It was really fun to see new features in unexpected places and watch the riders and skiers dial in their jumps.  Paul says he’ll be changing up the second jump before the next Slopestyle contests Feb 21 and 22.

Thanks Rick Quattlebaum for taking money at registration with a smile and a joke, Mary Stassel and Rob Kinnear for entering all the judges scores into the computer program and checking them twice, Jody Moses and Paul Kelly for getting door prize swag, Zak Kaercher of zAKs Boardshop for gift certificates and an amazing discount program for next season’s snowboard gear, Dee and Glen for technical supervision and judges Chad, Francis, Loghan and Rob—they had the best seats in the house for the second heat.

Boardercross this coming weekend at Alyeska Feb 14, 15, 16  Registration closes at 10 am each day and you’ll need a fresh Alyeska waiver form for each day along with your $20 entry fee per day and you must buy a lift ticket.  Open to snowboarders and skiers.  Happy Valentine's Day.

I have a number of volunteers already for BX, thank you!  If you'd like to help, we always need gate judges and you'll get lift ticket vouchers (1 for the day and 1 for another day) from me at registration.  But you have to remind me.

It's going to be a crazy busy long weekend at Alyeska with lots going on all over the mountain.  Remember USASA's motto:  Fun, Fair, Safe!

Get well wishes to Big AK coaches Brendan and Brad recovering from assorted injuries.
