Sunday, November 16 – Kickoff Meeting

Kick off meeting for training program and Series—meet the coaches, get your questions answered, sign up to volunteer, register for the training program.  You MUST be USASA registered as a full member before we can accept your application to the training program.  No exceptions.  Go to www.usasa.org and bring proof of USASA registration to the kick off meeting.

 

When:  5-7 pm, pizza & beverages provided by Big AK, please bring a salad or dessert.

Where:  3801 Centerpoint Dr (Centerpoint Dr is east of C St and between 36th and 40th).

 

FREE helmet check by Orthopedic Physicians Anchorage (OPA) at the kick off meeting.  Get your head examined--I mean get your helmet examined to make sure your head won’t need an examination this winter.  OPA is a generous sponsor of Big AK and this free helmet check is another way they are supporting our riders and skiers.  Thank you OPA!

 

USASA registration is required before you can join the training program or participate in any Series races.  You MUST register online at the FULL membership level and present proof of membership to Big Alaska  (a printed receipt or membership card).  Go to www.usasa.org and register as Big Alaska Snow Series.

 

Special pre-season training opportunity will be announced at the kick off meeting.  Teaser:  You must be fully USASA registered, and have a receipt from Northern Boarder in 5th Ave Mall dated 10/1/2008 or more recently AND be a member of the Big Alaska Training Team!

 

USASA IJC judging clinic and certification:  Nov 22-23 9 am – 4 pm

USASA Big Alaska Snow Series schedule will be posted on our website www.bigalaskasnow.net  and on the Big Alaska Snow Series page on the www.usasa.org website.

 

Coaches:  Paul Kelly will be head coach at Hilltop and Brad Christensen will be head coach at Alyeska.  They will be in constant communication with each other about program and athlete development.  Meet our coaching staff at the kick off meeting.  Interested in coaching this year?  Contact Paul or Brad for details.

 

The Big Alaska Coordinator, a new position this year, will be announced at the kick off meeting.  This person will coordinate the administration of the training program, communicate with parents, coaches and the BOD, be responsible for press releases, will assist with volunteer recruitment for the training program and the Series, etc.
